Killer Tomatoes no so Killer Anymore
It's OK to eat all kinds of tomatoes again, if you believe the U.S. government of course! They've lifted its salmonella warning on the summer fruits amid signs that the record outbreak, while not over, may finally be slowing.
Hot peppers, however, still get a caution.
Keep in mind that the people most at risk of salmonella, the elderly and people with weak or compromised immune systems, should avoid fresh jalapenos and serranos, and any dishes that may contain them such as fresh salsa.
Unless you are really handy and green and have grown it yourself, then knock yourself out! =)
